Track your Mounjaro injections in Peptimes
Mounjaro is Eli Lilly and Company's brand of tirzepatide, given as an injection. In Peptimes, a private iPhone tracker, you log each Mounjaro injection with the amount you took, the site and how you felt, then see it all again in Dose History.
Every amount comes from you; Peptimes never suggests one. For anything about the treatment itself, ask your prescriber.
What Mounjaro is
Mounjaro is made by Eli Lilly and Company and marketed in the US by Lilly USA, LLC. Its active ingredient is tirzepatide. FDA approved it on May 13, 2022, under NDA 215866. It's injected under the skin, and its label lists four presentations:
- single-dose prefilled pens
- single-dose vials
- multi-dose vials
- Mounjaro KwikPen, a pen for one person that holds several doses
Drugs@FDA lists each of them as a solution for subcutaneous use. The label was revised most recently in August 2026, and labels change, so check the date on yours. Checked October 25, 2026.
Mounjaro's US status
FDA Approved, for the uses in its label. You can read them in the Mounjaro label on DailyMed.
Prescription only, according to Drugs@FDA, for every Mounjaro presentation.
Compounded tirzepatide is a different thing from Mounjaro. FDA says "Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved," and containing tirzepatide doesn't give a compounded product Mounjaro's approval, which belongs to Lilly's product, its route and its labeled uses. See what "compounded" means.
Zepbound has the same active ingredient
Zepbound also contains tirzepatide and also comes from Eli Lilly and Company, but it's a separate product with its own application and label. The brands and ingredients guide lists both.
How Mounjaro fits into Peptimes
Peptimes has one entry per active ingredient, and Mounjaro's is tirzepatide. Search by a brand name such as Mounjaro, and you'll find the entry for its active ingredient. To set up your schedule, tap +, choose Add a Protocol, search Mounjaro or tirzepatide, and enter the days and times you already follow.
Pen or vial, a dose logs the same way: tirzepatide, subcutaneous (the only route Peptimes offers for it), and the amount you type in. Nothing in the app tells a pen from a vial, so note which one in the dose's Notes if that's useful to you.
Along with the amount, each entry holds:
- the injection site, since every Mounjaro dose is injected
- how you feel, as ratings and notes
A site history for every injection
The sites you log build up on a body map in Insights, showing where you've injected and how recently. It's a record of your past entries, never where to inject next. Injection site history covers how sites are recorded.

Reminders, and the doses you forgot to log
A reminder arrives for each scheduled dose, at the dose time or a set number of minutes ahead. A "Not logged" follow-up comes if you haven't logged it, unless you turn it off. The Discreet option hides the medicine name and amount from both.
Forgot to log one? Open that day in the Calendar and record it, or mark it "I didn't take it", which Peptimes keeps apart from a dose with no record yet.

From Dose History to a file
Dose History lists every Mounjaro dose you've logged, newest first. Tap tirzepatide for a summary line of your own entries. Weight and body measurements can sit alongside, if you log them.
Export it all as CSV or JSON for yourself or an appointment. Your health records are stored on your iPhone, and your records may not come across to a new iPhone, so export a copy first. How Peptimes handles your data has more.

FAQ
Can I log Mounjaro from a vial as well as a pen?
Yes. Both log as tirzepatide, subcutaneous, with the amount you enter. The app doesn't distinguish them, so add "vial" or "KwikPen" in the Notes if you like.
Is compounded tirzepatide the same as Mounjaro?
No. Mounjaro is Eli Lilly and Company's FDA-approved product. In FDA's words, "Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved."
Does Peptimes tell me my Mounjaro dose?
No. Peptimes never suggests an amount. You type in the one you were prescribed, and it records it.
What happens to my records if I move from Mounjaro to Zepbound?
Whether you switch is your prescriber's decision. Both are tirzepatide in Peptimes, so your history carries on under the same entry. Keeping records when you switch medicines covers what to note on the day.
